This 2-hour self paced course teaches students the foundation of fractions. Students will gain clarity on what a fraction is and how to recognize one. They will gain an understanding of key vocabulary terms related to fractions, explore visual representations of different shapes and sizes of fractions, and find common denominators/numerators with ease. Students will also explore equivalent fractions, compare and evaluate “same size” whole representation.

Middle and high school students will take their understanding of fractions to the next level and prep for high-stakes tests. Number Sensei

When the only strategy students learn for elementary math is memorization then essentially they are tasked with memorizing over 100 isolated equations. That’s not good number sense because that often doesn’t stick especially with young learners. Students first need a deep understanding of number sense -- the ability to see spatial patterns and number relationships. This course will provide a refresher of the essential building blocks for strong number sense including: operations of digits within 10, spatial relations, number pair, doubling, halving, odds/ evens and more. This 60 minute live instruction includes real-world problem solving strategies and math tips to convert fractions to percents, compute percent increase and decrease, find the discount and sale price of an item, solve problems similar to "One number is some percent of another number," and understand changes in a value with simple interest and sales tax.

Calculating Slopes

This 60 minute live instruction course will teach students how to calculate the slope quickly and easily. Learn how to use the slope formula and calculate the slope by identifying 2 points on a line graph. Measure the steepness of a line, how fast a line rises or falls, and evaluate ratios in the change in the y-values vs. the change in the x-values.

Shape Shifters (Geometry I)

Teaching shapes to children is an important educational activity. Students will practice their ability to recognize and describe 2D and 3D shapes which is a fundamental skill that provides a foundation for more advanced math skills. Students will also review key spatial vocabulary terms used to label shapes, identify shapes and combine shapes to match a visual model.

Angles (Geometry II)

This 60 minute live instruction course reviews what an angle is and how to describe, label, and measure them. Students will explore the five different types of angles based on their measurements. Special angles involving the Pythagorean Theorem formula will be used to solve for the missing side of a right triangle. Students will learn how to find the hypotenuse of the triangle and solve for the missing dimension and length of the hypotenuse. Advanced students will practice solving word problems involving angles such as “how high above the ground is the plane?”

Multiplication Mastery

Go way beyond memorization of math facts up to 12. Learn how to multiply 2 figure numbers in different ways. Compare and evaluate the common core standard approach with Vedic Maths mental multiplication techniques. Vedic Math is a form of mental calculation designed to help you multiply in a simpler and faster way. After passing the assessments with a 95% score or higher, you should be well prepared to multiply problems such as 34 x 37 and 86 x 42 with ease as well as evaluating simple algebraic expressions.

An introduction to 530 Scholars teaching style. This includes a blend of Vedic Maths as well as traditional math techniques. You will have full access to self-paced training videos for the entire duration of the course and can study them remotely.
