The Genius League is an academic training and competition circuit that improves fluency and mastery of foundational concepts in math and ELA. The program is designed to teach students common core math and English skills in advance of grade level requirements. This helps ensure students will perform at least 1 year ahead of the common core schedule.

The Genius League fuses education and exciting NCAA style competition in an aim to help students master critical math skills while also helping them build confidence, sportsmanship, and the ability to perform well under pressure. The Genius League is a training program and competition that:

  • Prepares students for academic success

Primary Students

Kindergarten thru 2nd Grade

The focus of primary level math is basic number sense. The topics covered include:

  • Compliments of 10 and 100 
  • Addition and subtraction
  • Multiplying by 2, 5, and 10

Students increase their understanding of how numbers work and learn to use patterns to compute math problems more efficiently and effectively. 

 

Mastery of these foundational principles prepares students for more advanced math concepts such as fractions, decimals, percentages, multiplication, division, and geometry.

Elementary

3rd thru 5th Grade

 

The focus of elementary level math is fraction fluency. Students learn to master:

  • Fraction to decimal conversion
  • Multiplication
  • Division
  • Exponents

Apps Used: Hit The Button and Equivalents

Students learrn to solve inequality problems using logic rather than memorization. They also begin to master multiplication and division by shifting between fractions and decimals to simplify the problem solving process. 

Mastery of these skills prepares students for advanced math concepts such as exponents, measurement, algebra, and geometry.

 

 

The focus of middle school math is advanced number sense, equivalents, factoring, and the properties of math to help prepare students to solve algebraic operations such as:

  • Expressions
  • Linear equations
  • Quadratic equations

Apps: "Dia Math" and "Kahoot"

Students learn to factor equations, graph problems using the slope intercept form, and write distance and rate equations. Mastery of these concepts will prepare them to excel in high school and score well on tests standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT.
